Ambleside CC

It is with regret that I have to inform you that yesterday Ambleside contacted the League to request that they be allowed to withdraw their first team from Division 1 for the 2019 season whilst retaining a team in Division 4.

With a number of established players choosing to play elsewhere Ambleside has only been able to find 12 players for the forthcoming weekend and believe that it is in no one's best interests for them to compete at a level beyond their current playing strength. The League Management Committee has accepted their request with reluctance because of the impact that this will have on other clubs. However it recognises that forcing Ambleside to play in Division 1 could jeopardise the future of the club and its chances of rebuilding. Ambleside CC has expressed its apologies to the League and to other clubs that will be affected by the situation, particularly as it was made on the eve of the new season.

We are currently working on options to minimize disruption to the league and a further statement will be put out later this evening to clarify the impact that this will have on any games this weekend and the structure of the Divisions for the season ahead.
