FINAL ON SUNDAY 4th AUGUST 3pm Reserve date 18th August

By entering a cup competition, a club accepts that in the event of winning a competition, that club will send a representative to the League Dinner to receive the relevant trophy. The League reserves the right to refuse entry to future competitions to any club who fails to send such a representative.

1 For period covering the 2019 season the division 1 cup competition will be based on a 20/20 ROUND ROBIN format.

2 The Management Committee will review the operation of the competition in time for the 2019 A.G.M..

3 In all rounds prior to the semi finals, each club will be responsible for arranging a panel umpire listed in the Handbook, and for their payment. If agreed with the Umpire’s Secretary prior to the match a non-panel/listed umpire may be used, but, this must be someone who has attended an umpires’ course run by the Westmorland League. In such cases the Umpire’s Secretary will inform both Clubs and the League Secretary of the appointment.

4 The League will arrange umpires for all semi finals and finals. Normal League rules will apply to payment of these umpires.

5 The batting side will provide the fielding side with the match ball to use which must be a Westmorland League Ball. In the final this will be provided by the League.

6. All group matches shall be arranged in dates specified and dates advised to the Fixtures Secretary no later than 26th April. The date of re-arranged fixtures must be notified within 72 hours of the original fixture and must be no later than 28th June The home team shall decide the date of the match. All matches are to be played within the dates given for the fixture.

7 The competition will be arranged on a round robin basis. 5 points will be allocated for a win, 3 points for a tied game and 0 points to either team in an incomplete game. The top team from each group will go into the semi finals. In the event of 2 teams finishing equal after the round robin matches the winner/s will be determined on the net run rate (information will be taken from results sheets
8 The matches will consist of one innings per side of 20 six bowl overs. No bowler may bowl more than one fifth of agreed overs. In the event of any bowler breaking down and being unable to complete an over, the remaining balls shall be bowled by another bowler and such remaining balls will count as a full over as far as a bowlers limit is concerned. Prior to the game, if weather conditions dictate, a game may be reduced up to a minimum of 10 overs per innings if both captains agree.

9 The match shall be won by the team who scores the most runs. If scores are level the team losing the least wickets will be the winner. If they have both lost the same number of wickets the match shall be deemed a tie. If there are insufficient overs due to weather conditions to complete the game then the match in the 1st instance shall be replayed and in the 2nd instance shall be decided by a bowl out

10 The bowl out
(a) Each player shall bowl one ball. The team that hits the wickets the most times shall be deemed the winner.
(b) Where the bowl out results in a tie, it will continue in a sudden death format with the players bowling in the same original order.
(c) All balls must pitch in front of the popping crease.
(d) Where a bowler balls a no ball, it shall count as a ball not hitting the wicket
(e) Both umpires as detailed in “3” above shall officiate

b For the first 6 overs only of each innings (or pro-rata if overs reduced to nearest full over), only two fieldsmen are permitted to be outside an area bounded by two semi-circles centred on each middle stump (each with a radius of 30 yards) and joined by a parallel line on each side of the pitch (the fielding circle). The fielding circle should be marked by painted white dots or a white plastic or rubber disc (not metal)at five yard intervals.

c For the remaining overs of each innings, only five fieldsmen are permitted to be outside the fielding circle.

12 The penalty for all no balls will be 2 runs. In addition, the delivery following a no ball called for a foot fault (Law 24.5) shall be a free hit for whichever batsman is facing it. For any free hit, the striker can be dismissed only under the circumstances that apply for a no ball. Field changes are permitted for free hit deliveries. The umpires will signal a free hit (after the normal No Ball signal) by extending one arm straight upwards and moving it in a circular motion.

13 Existing League Cup rules will apply regarding qualification of players, leg side wides and all other matters not covered above.
