2020 season - points penalties for late posting of results

By Tim Mansfield

Last chance to book training ahead of the season

At the AGM, clubs voted for penalties if results are not posted onto Play Cricket on time:

any results not on the website by midnight on the day of a game, the home side will incur an automatic penalty of 1 point, and a
further penalty of 1 if the full scorecard is not on the site by 8pm on Monday (Tuesday for Sunday games).

Last season almost half of all teams would have lost points if this rule had been been in place. The individual teams will named in the latest League Management Committee minutes. At the meeting it was agreed that for 2020 there will be a zero tolerance policy i.e, clubs will lose points.

Most clubs have one good Administrator but if they aren’t around then results are often posted late. We have offered training to widen knowledge across clubs, but by the deadline of yesterday only Burneside has asked for training. If your club does need training please let me know by return.

Also, for 2020 we will be using DLS in the cups in all Divisions. Every team must have someone who has downloaded the Play Cricket scorer app on to a Smartphone and be confident in using it. Training will be given at the pre-season captains’ meeting (6 April 7.30pm at Milnthorpe) If you choose to designate a scorer as your expert then they are very welcome to attend the umpires/scorers pre-meeting on 26 March at 7.30pm at Warton CC where use of the app will be demonstrated.
