Cedric Dyson

By Tracey Williams

It is with much sadness that we have to inform everyone of the passing of Ced on Thursday 12th November. Our thoughts and condolences go to his wife Ros and all his family

Cedric Dyson was a stalwart of both Wesgate CC and the Westmorland Cricket League. He took over as Pesident in 1991 and served until 2004. During his time in office the management of the League evolved into what we have today and Ced must take credit for this. At the head of the new management committee that he established he fostered improvement, introduced neutral umpires and encouraged the development of the junior league. He appointed a sponsorship commitee and, in 1992 the League had its first League sponsor. In 2001 he dealt with the senario caused by the foot and mouth epidemic and made sure cricket continued. In 2003 he was honoured with the League Achievement Trophy.
Much more can be said, but ultimately he was a family man who will be missed by many.
