The Westmorland League has a full programme of matches over the Bank Holiday weekend. Four of the contenders for the Division 1 title lock horns on Saturday as Heysham travel to Sedgwick and Shireshead host Westgate.

Heysham are missing two of their key bowlers, but Andy Powers is expected to be back from rugby duties, and Sedgwick will be hoping that Tom Ridley is fit to bowl. Westgate had a week off and Dylan Conroy took the opportunity to test his injured ankle in the seconds ahead of their trip to Shireshead who as well as back to back league wins, beat Great Eccleston in the Village Knockout on Sunday.

Kendal 2nds and Warton also started the season with wins and meet at Kendal CC on Saturday. Both Burneside and Kirkby Lonsdale are looking for their first win and meet at Ellergreen Park.

There are nine games in Divisions 3 and 4 on Sunday, and on Bank Holiday Monday the Hackney and Leigh Trophy gets underway with Kendal 2nds hosting Kirkby Lonsdale at 1pm. On Tuesday, Trimpell host Warton and on Thursday Sedgwick host Burneside. This starts two months of evening cup cricket where local cricket fans will have games to watch several evenings a week.
